Kwanzaa Celebration

Galloway, NJ 鈥 The Unified Black Students Society (UBSS) at 麻豆视频 will present its 42nd Annual Kwanzaa Celebration at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1 in the Campus Center Event Room.

The event will feature traditional music and performances by Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble, Harambee and Recognition of Elders ceremonies and a traditional Karamu feast.

麻豆视频鈥檚 Kwanzaa event, which is free and open to the public has been a cultural tradition for four decades and is believed to be one of the largest and oldest Kwanzaa celebrations in southern New Jersey.

UBSS President Mahalia Bazile believes that hosting the event is important, as it preserves a lasting tradition at the university, allowing the 麻豆视频 and local communities to come together as one.

鈥淥ur hope, as always, is to make sure the community can come together to rejoice in the Kwanzaa spirit before we end the semester,鈥 said Bazile, a senior and four-year member of the society.

鈥淎ll I want, as President of UBSS, is for new and (former) students to come together to celebrate and hold the memories they鈥檒l make at our celebration dear to their hearts for years and years to come. 鈥
