Galloway, N.J. -  �鶹��Ƶ Esports team members Ryan Andjel of Berlin and Tyler Langan of Barnegat won the Esports Gaming League (EGL) 2v2 Call of Duty Vanguard Search and Destroy tournament held Thanksgiving weekend.  

�鶹��Ƶ began competing in Call of Duty in the fall of 2020.  Andjel, a Business Studies major and Langan, a Criminal Justice major, also both qualified for season playoffs in their respective leagues earlier this fall. The tournament was sponsored by the Philadelphia Union soccer team and the students won tickets to a game and jerseys.

�鶹��Ƶ lost 2-0 to Team VSAT but made a convincing 2-0 comeback against West Chester University, advancing to the grand finals.  �鶹��Ƶ again met Team VSAT in the grand finals for a contentious rematch, dropping the first of three rounds.  �鶹��Ƶ fought back, ultimately clenching a 2-1 victory over Team VSAT, and securing the tournament win.

“I am so proud that I was able to represent �鶹��Ƶ and bring home a tournament victory for �鶹��Ƶ Esports,” Andjel said.

“Securing a huge win like this in a local tournament feels amazing!  What an exciting way to kick off the upcoming spring season at �鶹��Ƶ. The future is bright for Call of Duty at �鶹��Ƶ,” Langan said.

“Ryan and Tyler were both instrumental in building and growing �鶹��Ƶ’s Call of Duty teams,” said Demetrios Roubos, �鶹��Ƶ’s Information Security Officer and esports program manager. “We’re extremely fortunate to have dedicated and talented students supporting the esports program at �鶹��Ƶ. Their contributions enhance the esports experience and reflect positively on the program.”

�鶹��Ƶ hosts esports teams in a dozen games and competes in the Eastern College Athletic Conference as well as CSL. About 150 students participate and 80 compete. In the last two years, �鶹��Ƶ teams have won their ECAC seasons in NBA2K21, FIFA and Fortnite.
